Terms & Conditions
Last updated: April 2026
1. Who We Are
These terms apply to services provided by First Call Metal Recycling Ltd, trading as First Call Metal Recycling, registered at 132 Warren Avenue, Southampton, SO16 6AE (“we”, “us”, “our”). Our registration number is CBDU561661.
2. Scope of Service
We provide mobile scrap metal collection, weigh-and-pay, scrap bin supply, and grab hire services across Southampton and the wider Hampshire area. Acceptance of a quote or booking constitutes agreement to these terms.
3. Quotes and Pricing
All quotes are estimates based on the information you provide. Final prices are determined by the weight of metal collected and the prevailing market rate on the day of collection. Metals are weighed using calibrated scales at the point of collection. We reserve the right to adjust an estimate if the actual materials differ materially from what was described.
4. Payment
Under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, all payments for scrap metal are made by bank transfer. We do not pay cash. Payment is made the same day as collection, once the metal has been weighed and a price agreed. You will need to provide valid bank account details prior to or at the time of collection.
5. Seller Identification
In accordance with the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, we are required to verify the identity of anyone selling scrap metal to us. You must be able to provide a valid form of photographic identification (such as a passport or driving licence) and proof of address if requested. We reserve the right to refuse collection if satisfactory identification cannot be provided.
6. Acceptable Materials
We collect ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals including copper, aluminium, brass, lead, steel, iron, cables, alloy wheels, and batteries. We do not collect hazardous waste, asbestos, or materials that we have reasonable grounds to believe are stolen. We reserve the right to refuse any collection at our discretion.
7. Waste Transfer
Every collection is accompanied by a waste transfer note as required by the Environmental Protection Act 1990. A copy will be provided to you upon request. You confirm that you are the lawful owner of any materials collected, or that you have the authority to dispose of them.
8. Access and Collection
You are responsible for ensuring safe and lawful access to the collection point. We will not collect materials that require entry to a property without your explicit consent. If we attend and are unable to access the agreed collection point, we reserve the right to charge a call-out fee.
9. Liability
We carry full public liability insurance. Our liability is limited to direct loss or damage caused by our proven negligence. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, or any loss arising from your failure to comply with these terms. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any matter that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Cancellations
You may cancel or reschedule a collection at any time by calling us on 02381 224 048. We ask for as much notice as possible. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule collections at short notice due to operational reasons, and will notify you as soon as possible if this occurs.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page. Continued use of our services after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
